Are there any special ways of cooking it? I very rarely buy a red cabbage, apart from in a jar pickled at Chrismas! But I've got one now - I know you can add something to it to bring out its flavour.

I have often used a recipe from a Microwave cook book by Carol Bowen, That one uses Wine , Vinager, onions, Walnuts, Pears and rasins as well as the cinnamon and sugar on the other recipies. Though I often just use apples, vinager, onion, brown sugar, walnuts and red cabbage. Cooking time is about 25 mins. Does any know what would happen if green cabbage was used instead. The other thing that you can do with red cabbage is to pickle it. I found an Mrs Beatons recipy on the internet. Basicaly its Chop up the cabbage, pour over a lot of salt, leave it, rinse it and put it in a jar with water. It actualy tasted ok.

I think tastewise green cabbage would work but would it look as good?
