Holy Kamolee! That's one HUGE root system coming off the baby ... if I'm seeing things right. There's some leaves and a whole bunch of rooty things coming from underneath? Your baby can be potted at any time. Careful to not break the roots. You don't need to force them all into the orchid mix ... some probably will need to stick out over the pot by the looks of thinks. Congrats, Petal. You have a beautiful baby! ;D

Gosh Petal I wasnt expecting anything like that its a wopper ;D I thought little tiny leaves like on the spider plant! as C3Ds says I would get that into a pot as soon as poss; you could leave it attached to the parent plant until the roots establish in the new medium if you can support it higher up ! and then cut it off. What do you think C3Ds?? Err how did she have this baby then???!!! Ive just noticed Petal you havent got the parent in a clear pot!! that is quite a big one ! what medium is it growing in?

Your prolly right, and I dunno where I'd put it really, the central heating ruins all the window sills for plants.

There's NO doubt about it, Petal. That baby can be seperated from Mum and potted on his own any time you feel comfortable doing so!
Sorry for any confusion. ;D

Here's some of my orchids and planty things outside: C3Ds Im going to try and rig something similar to this for when we go away next month do I site it in the shade? what position is best for them? and will they be alright if just left to be watered when it rains, I will leave them out of any other container that might catch the water, if we have a lot of rain would it harm them?
