There are no particular colours I hate, but colour combinations. I was given an orange Poppy, re-vamping the garden and moving things about over the past few months, I now have an orange poppy next to a red Fuchsia . The Poppy will have to go

I try and avoid too much pink I suppose but to be honest, although I'm not much into lots of colours, there's nothing I actually hate....I prefer lots of different greens and foliage textures and shapes instead. I always admire greatly lots of summer bedding etc in other's gardens but I don't particularly want it in my own garden. I seem to end up with quite a lot of dark reds......I love it! I do love blue flowers too and white, and a splash or two of yellow, even orange, The witch (Calendulas... so cheerful).... ;D I loved the predominance of green at Chelsea this year - it was beautiful. I got a bit cross with those who said it was boring...they should look a bit closer and marvel at the range of colours...... Actually it's not a colour I hate - it's a plant - Pampas grass......HATE IT! :

I agree with you 4P - I have ginormous range of greens in my garden and I love it! And anything that chooses to flower in my garden regardless of colour is most welcome. ;D Last year I did have a load of blue flowers everywhere and not much else which got a bit annoying, I think the monotony of the same colour would be the only thing that would get on my nerves.

Me too, but a couple of mine aren't looking so good atm. I think they need a prune and some time to recover from the blast of the wind lately and heavy rain. It worries me when they look unhappy as they should be as tough as old boots.

I think I have a Euphorbia Characias and a Euphorbia Wulfenii which both have purpley-red leaves. I've got a E. Fireglow too which has bright red bracts, well it should have but I think mine's in a part of the garden where it doesn't get enough sun so the bracts are more orangey. It's on the list to be moved to a sunnier place. ;D

I'm not keen on those painted heathers you get in the autumn...yuk. On the whole I love a mixture....a RIOT of colour ;D if they clash...all the better.

It's colour combinations that matters. All colours have their moment or place in the border.

Those pinky-orangey colours - salmon? Euugh - they make me think of nylon underwear with scratchy lace. Love most other colours though, especially vibrant oranges and purples, white looks great against dark foliage (e.g. Solanum Alba) ... generally go for the explosion-in-a-paint-factory approach ... cheers ....

I must admit I love vibrant colours, but I seem to get pink no matter what I thought I planted, I used to say I dont "do" pink, but looking around, I guess I do! ;D My fave colours are deep reds, oranges and purples, love blues.. and white too. As for colour combinations I think nature comes up with better schemes than me.
