I've been meaning to take a picture of this lovely little tree but keep forgetting to take my camera : It's in our local village and is a gorgeous little thing. In the winter the bare branches make a beautiful little ball of tracery. I have never seen anyone out there trimming it to keep it so neat but it's always immaculate! The witch talking about wanting a small tree in her front garden made me think of it immediately. I think it's a beech tree.......

Does look nice, 4P, though it must have been clipped at some point, doesn't it?

Well, I know it looks clipped! It's tree topiary....,,that was rather the point you see! I think it's very beautifully done, looks lovely and I wouldn't actually object to a tree like that (or several in a row) in my garden, despite the fact that I prefer the 'rugged' look! It's all up to individual taste however isn't it? I thought The witch's OH might like it, that's all, since he wasn't keen on a tree as such in their front garden...never mind.. ;D

It's fine The witch I misunderstood, I thought your OH didn't want a tree that would grow too large in your front garden, that's all. I am quite tempted to have a go at this myself! Personally I think it's a little beauty ;D
