Do you know the difference between a Christmas cactus and an Easter cactus Sweetie.
It was explained to me by a speaker at our Horticultural Society meeting.

They all look like Christmas cactus to me. Easter cactus has a different flower. My big Christmas cactus has been flowering for about 2 months.

According to one book I have there are 3 types Christmas, Easter and Thanksgiving, and the difference is in the shape of the leaves, and the blooming time. the leaves not too clearly described actually, and black and white pictures As mine flowered at Christmas, and are now on the second bloom I find this delightful, but puzzling, (the red leaved variety has wider leaves, flatter and scalloped a little.)

Which one is the red leaved one? That sounds like an Easter cactus but I can't see any typical flowers.

Nope, still a Xmas cactus. Easter cacti don't have swept back petals and the stems are thicker and hairier and red edged. Has this one been in the sun?

It's just that this kind of knowledge imparted by an expert professional should be valued. I don't want to impart it glibly and where the information will not be appreciated.
Being a cactus expert already I'm sure that Mick already knows this.
