I had a similar experience about being dive bombed with pigeon poo when on holiday with my parents in St Mark's Square in Venice, when I was twelve. I still remember it as it was almost impossible to avoid being pooed on. But I don't wish the pigeon population any harm at all - it's a wood pigeon that makes that 'boo-boo, bah' cooing noise isn't it? I LOVE that sound! Wood pigeons say: Take two cows Taffy, take two cows Taffy, take two cows Taffy, take. That's it, that's the sound I meant, just got my rhythm all wrong. That is such a lovely sound to me but it does nothing for OH.

I must admit that the sound of wood pigeons does bring back happy childhood memories for some reason - of leather on willow and cream teas in a cricket pavilion.

What a lovely memory! The one in the Horse Chestnut overlooking my back garden is definitely saying 'bah-booo, bah, bah-booo, bah.' And when it's happy, well it sounds a happy sound, or maybe snoring, it goes a guttural 'brrrwwwhhhhhhaaaaah'. Like a huge expellation of air. What kind of pigeon/dove would that be?

Oh no, are you sure? It sounds so satisfied - it's been doing it on a warm day, very still and peaceful. I thought the human equivalent would be 'aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaahh!'
