There is a bird box down the garden for and used by blue tits. Last year a cat reached it and had a paw in the entrance and I dont know if it got the hen but she certainly deserted and the chicks died. I put up an anti cat screen and a while back notice it had been broken off. I hadnt seen any activity at the box but a month back had noticed some straws sticking out of a crack and I thought they had aborted a build. This morning I was down that way and 'd clean the box out. Whoops there was a hen sat presumably brooding, she didnt fly off and I put the front back on and left.
Do you think she will dessert? Of course realistically the only answer is to wait and see but I can hope

Ooh, I hope she stays. Hopefully as you didn't actually do anything she will stay. P'raps she was asleep and thinks she dreamed it! Fingers crossed.....

I think you maybe alright, Sean. Best time to check a nesting box is October, but fingers crossed, all will be well.

Never seen one before, they obviously dont like my area, but we get other finches so I dont know why. Lovely picture though, it captures the birds annoyance very well!
