Our swallows are back! We saw our first one Tuesday morning first thing and now there are several and they are busy in all the barns with their nests. It's so nice to hear all their twitterings again as I get the car out. Brilliant!

Oooh. Swallows Easter Sunday here The only place we can hear the Cuckoo is at the local tip, but I've never seen one as they are always way in the distance. Your friends are very lucky Plocket.

Oooooo! How sweet to hear the swallows! ! They are so nice. We on the other hand *had* swallows, our Purple Martins about two weeks ago swooping and twittering through the skies. Now, none. The severe cold weather we have had and are to have again for the next few days have stopped the flying insects from coming out and the swallows NEED them as a source of food. I have read at another site that people have found barn swallows and purple martins dead from starvation because of the cold weather. x 1000 + ! I suppose it is Nature's way but that does NOT mean I need to like it! C3D

But I don't think it is Nature's way really - it's our activities that are doing so much damage to the environment and accelerating climate change (I think, I know not everyone agrees!). I think it's truly sad that so many species are suffering too.
