your cats are soooo cute i love they way they look stripy from afar and black close up, is that just on camera or in real life too?

Hi emseypop They are stripey in real life too, Poppy more so than TC. I really hope she keeps her stripes. I think it makes here stand out from a normal black moggy. They are so much fun to watch playing together too. Racing round at 90 miles an hour, play fighting. ;D

my cats Ziggy and socks are 8 now, they're brother and sister, next time i have a cat (dont want to think about the reason I'd have to get a new cat) I'd like a female and to have a litter if kittens of our own i think it would be a lovely experience for the kids and I'd love it too. I hope poppy and t.c keep their stripes too

Aaaah, how can anyone resist a kitten? They look really sweet and they obviously have a lot of personality. You're soo lucky Ali. Hope Monty's foot is OK.

Not sure where to reply now. Our meesages crossed on the banter box. ;D The kittens are wonderful. They had an explore of the garden today but it's not easy keeping an eye on 2 kittens going in opposite directions. I'm not sure now if it is monty's foot or his shoulder, I was hoping it would get better this afternoon and just be a little sprain or bite or something, but it doesn't seem any better tonight - think it might be a trip to the vets. :

Best get it checked if you think it might be a bite anyway Ali. They can go nasty very quickly. Hope he's OK.

The thing is I can't see anything I have tried moving his leg but he growls where ever I touch him and there is no sign of a bite that I can see. I will keep him in tonight and see how he is in the morning, it won't be cheap though.

Monty is a handsome fellow! Looks a bit like our Henry. I just love it when they have a little pink nose! Poppy and TC look exhausted! Have you put them to work already? Please! Do remember they are babies and need their rest! You have a lovely kitty family.

It's great fun watching them too. Btw i used to have a cat called Ziggy, he was ginger and white and very much a bagpuss cat. I hope your cats live to a ripe old age.

Thank You C3D, and i'll try not too work them too hard to soon. ;D Hi Maggyd. Monty has been putting his weight on it but not very much. I gave him a through check of his leg on Sunday when he finally let me and noticed a lump by the wrist part of his leg. After talking to C3D ( she's great btw. ;D) and the on call vet I decided not to take him on Sunday partly because it would have cost £70 just to walk through the door. Also if he had broken it he would not be putting any weight on it what so ever, but he has been jumping up and down to sit on his favourite seat. So I took monty to the vets Monday. - The vet was unsure if it was a bite or a sprain ( he thought it was more likely a bite.) and Monty was not in the mood to have it looked at to closely without being sedated which the vet didn't want to do. He gave monty an anti - inflammortary injection and some tablets and said go back in a week. So as it stands at the mo it's a waiting game. The foot is no better and no worse.

You dont want to let you kitten have anesthetic Ali its to risky if she isnt distressed I would leave her alone and just keep an eye on her. Tim my last chihuahua was attacked by our next doors Alsation when he was a pup! cowering into the garden wall saved him but he was limping so I strapped it up as it was 8oclock at night next day I took it off and he was O.K. except he hated other dogs after that.

Hi C3D Sorry I haven’t updated you before. I really don’t know where these last 2 weeks have gone. Monty is still limping but not as bad as he has been, he also still seems to have a lump by his wrist, I am guessing that it’s either a fracture or a break. But when I took Monty back to the Vets for the second time, he said ‘yes’ I can x-ray him but I won’t do anything different to what I am doing now. Which is some tablets for the pain and let it heel in it’s own time. I’m not happy with this outcome but what else can I do, I also worry that Monty will end up with a permanent limp. Do you think I should get another opinion.?

Ohhhh. Poor Monty! Poor you! Monty might have a bad sprain or a fracture. He might be more comfortable with a support wrap or splint to decrease the mobility of the injured joint. Decrease the mobility and you decrease the pain for either one! I think Monty should have a wrap or splint. A second opinion is a good option too. Monty isn't a very old cat so it isn't likely he has a tumour in his bone but an x ray would let you know what to expect. If there is a fracture in or near the joint Monty might get arthritis there later on. He would have a permanent limp. If it is a bad sprain there isn't so much of a risk of arthritis. Monty also needs a belly kiss!

i think you should get a second opinion about Monty too, my dad and his partner nearly lost their cat as the vet failed to spot a potassium defiance. it was only picked up when they went to see another vet for a second opinion. They don't all know it all.

But I will ring another vet tomorrow and see what they say. As you said he is not very old - i'm guessing about 12 - 18 months old. The vet did mention that it might be a tumour but thought it would be very, very unlikely because of his age. - (Arthritis had crossed my mind.) Belly kiss passed on. and he said to send one back in return. ( This is daft passing on kisses.)
