from Argos last week as Gizmo gets tangled fur on her tummy from time to time
The leaflet stated that it is very quiet and therefore especially good for nervous pets.

What a load of tosh - it's really noisy. I'll be taking it back to Argos next week, but it isn't covered by their 30 day money back guarantee, so it will be at the managers discretion if I get my money back I haven't used it, seemed pointless trying once I heard how noisy it was.

I would really like the same sort of clippers as our vet uses, but they cost about £100

Ooo, good luck with that! I could just imagine me hurtling round the house after my two cats with a pair of noisy clippers. But Snowy loves being hoovered, with the attachment from the Dyson. He lays on his back with arms and legs sprawled out in ecstasy. Funny lot aren't they? But the sound of an aerosol, one puff and they're ready to bolt.
They should give you your money back The witch, if they claim to be something they're not. If you bought them because they say they're quiet and they're not you've been misled. I don't think you'll have any trouble getting your money back at all. Especially since they're not going back full of fluff.

Have you actually tried turning them on, near to Gizmo, to see how she reacts? I don't think you could get a quiet pair of clippers! I have a larger pair that I use on my dog for her ears and back of her legs, but prefer a decent pair of 'blunt ended' scissors for her paws.

My vet has a pair which are extremely quiet, these things are as noisy as the clippers I use to cut my OH's hair.
