I have some nice big baking potatoes which I would usually cook in the microwave. Unfortunately we are without a microwave at the moment so I'm doing them in the oven. I'm not in possession of any foil either at the moment although it'll be easy to get some. I'm thinking of just pricking them and putting them in the oven Gas Mark 7 for about an hour. Way back in the mists of time this is what I used to do although I remember very crispy hard jackets this way. Any other suggestions?

Chip them? Saute them? Rice them? Mash them? Cream them? Cream them with cheese Cream them with pumpkin?

I prick my jacket potatoes ,then rub a little olive oil over them,sprinkle with a little bit of Maldon salt and bake at gas no. 5 - 6 for about an hour

Mix that with a couple of anchovies, some butter and a dribble of fresh jersey double cream. Return to the shells and grill with a little drizzle of grated mild cheddar sprinkled on top.

Deep fry until golden brown. Serve with a Pukka chicken and mushroom pie and mushy peas.

I haven't had a microwave for about a year now, I dont miss it. When I bake spuds I put them on a med heat and make little tinfoil parcets with butter salt and pepper, if I dont have foil, I just do them a little lower for a bit longer.

And food stuffed with them are the foods that make me happy. ;D Do you agree? There has to be something in that.

Sleppy is a good cook really, Sleppy is ;D sorry! All the slobber on the keyboard made my finger slip! Sleepy is a even better cook that sleppy I'm sure. I watched come dine with me, the meal looked great. Bloody Mary jellies to start, then hare and mixed veg for a main course, I've never tried hare but it did look nice bloody meat (4p don't hate me!) and a raspberry sorbet for pudding. I'm going to look the bloody Mary jellies up, who knows if the practice run goes well, I may bring some to the BBQ (not your one sleepy, sleppys one!)

Id like to know which diet you are on Sleepy : every suggestion up to now has about 3.000 calories. ;D I am actually on two diets. I get hungry on one!
