Your dinners sound lovely, never tried a cockerel, is there much difference? We didn't have a starter this year as I always feel anxious leaving the dinner sitting, while I cram whatever we have for a started down my throat! The kids never eat them anyway! We had a boned Turkey crown, pigs in blankets, apricot and cranberry pork stuffing balls and cranberry sauce with mulled wine in (holly had about half a jar!) Roast spuds ( my specialty, I put semolina on them ) roast parsnips, carrots sprouts and savoy cabbage. We had profiteroles, for pudding as I'm the only one who like Christmas pud, and we have no microwave so i wasn't faffing about just for me! Sean and I were very disappointed we hit the wall, quite early in our dinner, dispite saving ourselves! Cheery, how do you manage a cooked brekkie and a full dinner! I really enjoyed a turkey bap for tea too, with salad and cranberry sauce! Still lots of meat left over for today. Is it too early for a Turkey sarni?

Hiya Emsey!
We had our breakfast early and didn't sit down to dinner until gone 2.30pm...we didn't manage anything after dinner...still stuffed now but we'll have leftovers later ;D
Cockerel was just like chicken (which it is) but much bigger...as it was a free range/organic bird and FRESH it was really tender and succulent... I'd have it again...but we may have beef next year (OH won't eat roast pork and I won't eat baby lambs...) I prolly won't cook Turkey again tho..none of us are that keen.

I must admit cheery, that I'm enjoying my turkey more, cold on sandwiches that I did with gravy on my Christmas dinner.

I've got leftovers with chips....mmmmmmmm just right (before the diet starts on Jan 7th...)
I am starting a family slimming group again...all my sisters and nieces come along to S.L.A.P.A. (Shuttlewood Ladies Adipose Prohibition Association) and we generally do quite well...it's an excuse for a natter anyway...

I can't lose weight but I can provide healthy but alternative recipes for you all: Poor woman's Porcine Pie - a smidgeon of bacon on a bed of lettuce with toasted wholemeal bread Gorcock and Moorcock Stew - not very slimming unless yu go out and stalk your Gorcock for several hours beforehand. They are a speedy little bird so many calories can be used up in the catching. Porcupine in Pitta bread - so painful to eat you won't bother so very slimming indeed......

Sounds lovely The witch. Glad it went well. Bread sauce is very popular with my girls - we love it and spend ages seasoning and 'tasting ' it - I always make loads.....

I make mine using the microwave 4P - less hassle. Ooh, no I'd get into trouble if I did that! We have a ritual about it - make the breadcrumbs the night before, stick the cloves in the onion at the same time and leave it to soak in the milk overnight. In the morning make it first thing and spend all morning tasting it.....yum!
