Having people round for dinner tomorrow night - just been told that one guest can't eat eggs!!!!! Most of my pudding recipes use eggs!!! : Fresh fruit salad for pud then! Rice pudding doesn't use eggs And a favourite that I use for dinner parties is Fresh strawberries cut into quarters Whipping cream whipped until stiff Merannges crushed into lumps All mixed together Oh... scotch that one - merangue has eggs in it

You'd have to find an egg free crumble. I suspect that digestive biscuits would have egg in, not sure about that. Still, depends on how fastidious Ritas guest is I suppose.

If you were to make it from scratch though, with flour and fat, sugar....that'd get round it wouldn't it?

Sure they don't mean eggs as in fried, boiled, poached etc which would be like me? Can't eat any of those (plus omelettes, eggy quiches) but fine with things with egg in like cakes.

I should imagine the egg allergy is a lot easier to get around than the cat one! How did you get around that one The witch?

Eeek! At least they told you in advance, that's something I suppose. Unlike one of my children's birthday parties held in a hall with a bouncy castle, loads of kids there - and food. When one of the mums comes up to me as we're putting the food out to tell me that her daughter has a serious nut allergy....................!!!!!!

Mums always like their precious little spawn to have an allergy. It's usually just a label to suggest they are special. It usually means that the day they got nappy rash was they day they ate their first nut or egg or milk.... food.

Don't think so in this case - the mum told me that her mouth would swell up and all kinds of disaster would ensue if so much of a whiff of a nut went near her daughter......it was as if she had waited for this moment to sabotage the party she seemed so intent, almost excited on telling me this news and judging how I was going to handle it.

Were you not even tempted to test the reaction?

Now that's just silly! For one thing who still serves pineapple and guinneapig on the same cocktail stick at parties these days? It's so passé, soooo 70s!
