Mrs cactus was suffering a little from a late night and a lot of wine on Saturday so I cooked.
We had fresh broccoli and spinach from the allotment (and Mrs C managed a cheese sauce) with whatever veg I could roast - potatoes, parsnips, carrots, chillies and an onion.
A little while ago I picked up a Moroccan spice rub at M&S so I used that on some lamb steaks that we had and baked them for about 20 minutes. Absolutely delicious. I shall get that again.

I ate out yesterday, I had a chicken Caesar salad, yours sounds much nicer, Mick. My OH doesn't cook, other than fry-ups! After many years he can manage that without a pool of grease.

If I didn't spend all my time with plants I could really get into cooking. MIL was a chef and my grandfather was a chef on the Golden Arrow. So it's in the jeans.

Surely you had something more substantial later Plocket? Roast chicken with clematis sauce perhaps?

I dragged Mrs C out to a cactus nursery in Farnborough yesterday morning but she got her own back by suggesting that we visit Lakeside on the way back (for those of you that don't know that is an enormous shopping complex near the Dartford tunnel/bridge. In the circumstance I could hardly refuse.
Well..... there was a special Moroccan display on with clothes, jwellery etc. and food! There were lots of little sweet cakes and various piles of spices. I picked a special Moroccan mix.
When we got in I defrosted some chicken breasts, put them in a bowl with some olive oil and a couple of teaspoons of this mix. Mixed it all together, covered with foil and baked it for about 40 minutes. The smell was fantastic and the flavour even better.

P.S I had my daughter and two of her teenage children round to lunch yesterday, I cooked roast beef yorkshire puds roast pots broccoli carrots and french beans, and she brought a chicken and sage and onion stuffing.
I ate far more than I should and drunk too much red wine but that is cooks perks. ;D

Same here - there's something so satisfying about making as much use out of the food as possible.

Actually Karenwl we often do toad in the hole on Sunday instead of a roast joint. I sometimes thinks it is just as good - and cheaper.
We are out on Sunday so no cooking for me. Might do a ruby on Saturday though.
