I now think that Tesco's garlic and coriander naan are much nicer than Sainsbury's surprisingly. T's dough is much lighter than Sainsbury's, T's have more garlic on them too. I have resolved the problem now, while the naan are in the oven I melt some unsalted Lurpak butter slowly together with 1 clove of crushed garlic, then pour it over naan once they are out of the oven. ;D I do love garlic butter you know.

Doing an Indian dinner party Saturday night for somebody from Kerala. I shall be cooking the main course (Keralan lamb bhuna) tonight to let it mature for a couple of days. I'll let you know how it goes (more smelly oniony hands then). Also doing a cauliflower dish, possibly a spinach dish, yoghurt chutney, rice and breads. Oh it sounds delicious Mick - I hope you don't get too pressured with the cooking and that your guests love it. And I don't blame you for buying the naan!!! We're taking LP out to an Indian restaurant for dinner. She's had take aways with us so we decided as it's OH's birthday she could come with us

I hope they do children sized portions P - our daughter was completely put off eating out with Mum and Dad due to the large portion she was given, in an Indian restaurant as it happens - poor child thought the same rules applied as at home, that she "had to eat everything on her plate, or at least try".

She's not going to order anything for herself at all! She'll try what the rest of us have got - there's going to be five adults so what with side dishes, popadums, naan bread etc. there's got to be enough for her! She often has my leftover take-away curry re-heated for her tea the following day, and loves it, so we can share even if she doesn't like the rest of the food.

I made up a risotto tonight.... ;D , well the recipe I had looked boring...I used olive oil in a big pan to fry a finely chopped Spanish onion, added a leeetle bit of finely chopped red chili and fennel (well I had some!) and a bit of chopped bacon...once that lot was cooked I added a bit of butter (tsk tsk) and added the risotto rice....then started adding chicken stock a bit at a time, stirring it and letting it get soaked up..until I'd used around a litre...THEN added some leftover roast chicken in big chunks...and a chopped courgette...and a big slosh of white wine.... ;D Cooked it until it was ready (always a good idea) and stirred in a pile of grated parmesan....served in hot bowls with crusty wholemeal bread YUMMY it was....the chili and fennel really sparked it up...we don't like garlic but I spose that would go in with the onion if you were using it.... but twas a bit calorific.... :

Well I made a rather nice (for me) onion, garlic and courgette quiche (even the eggs were from the girls) with lots of salad (the first tomatoes!) from the garden. I thought it was pretty good but OH nibbled around the edges and left the rest....and hardly spoke all through the meal. It's not good for my digestion is it? I do hate cooking for a fussy vegetarian....... Your risotto sounds scrummy Cheery...but OH hates rice.........

Sorry, sorry, sorry!
It went very well. He had an enormous portion and went back for seconds.
Must do some more.
