I believe its a greenhouse heater or part of it it looks as though there should be two parafin burners there, has anyone ever seen anything like it? The make is Eltex, I found it deeply buried in my ginormous compost heap at the lottie!   Its made of galvanised material the brown stain you can see isnt rust, its compost, do you think it can still be used? |

Without a doubt! It requires two paraffin heaters (of which I already have one) the chimneys fit the lower pipes and it turns into a low tech radiator. ;D OH reckons the shelf for the burners needs making bigger as it was designed to hold oblong heaters, and mine is round. A simple task, and one that can be done without actually changing the structure, by making a shelf that fits over the original one.  He says the design is one that will cut down on the condensation caused when burning paraffin too, clever OH! |

I am sure its less of a gas guzzler than a wankle and it wont need a rebuild in short order either! Although it has very few moving parts (none) so it has a similarity! Did you think I might have been tempted to be a little cheeky there mick? ;D I was you know  |

How well I remember the day I was lurking in the Science Museum, slightly bored (at the age of 12 how was I to know that I'd end up as an adult with a job in science, admittedly not engineering!?)... when there...in a glass case next to various nadgets, gimbles, wotjamakallits and STUFF was the now famous WANKLE ROTARY ENGINE ...ah..just saying the words kept me sniggering for MONTHS!
and then of course Monty Python's Flying Circus also found the engine worthy of note ;D

I must admit that as a teen I was similarly inclined. The giggles were never far away, Dads toolshed was a great source of amusement for me some of the tools had very interesting names!  . |
