Pull one and see whats happening P!........ it sounds like the heat has made it bolt. July usually from a spring sowing, but they stop after flowering and go woody.

If you keep them in a plastic box in the fridge they keep ok for a week or so, apparently you can keep them white by cooking them in the water you have washed rice in,

I'm always a bit suspicious about keeping things - I fail miserably with carrots for example That's a good tip about the rice but OH was going to use it raw, and we usually cook rice in the rice cooker anyway Thanks so much for all the information - you are a star!!!
