Has anyone read The Kite Runner by Khaled Hosseini? it's been recommended to me by so many people and I've finally gotten it. Would love to know what you thought of it if you've read it.

| Dan Brown wrote A&D Maggy, he also wrote the davinchy code. The book was very good, better that the film, however the film was good. I felt the auther tied up the loose ends a little too well in the book tho. Has anyone else read it? What do you think? I'm reading another Alice sebold book ATM, about a woman who kills her mentally ill mother.....a bit close to the bone

I knew I recognised the title Em! yes I read the Devinci code and my D.I.L. had A.&D. I wanted it after her but I was too late she had passed it on Im on the lookout for it. It was Rage of Angels that Sidney Sheldon wrote I read that a long time ago.

One book was £14.99 - I dont pay anymore than £9.99 - unless desperately want it

I bought the new Penny Vincenzi book - a massive massive book so worth the £9.99 I paid - I could not put it down - very light hearted reading - and it kept me out of trouble for a week

Yes I am a member of my Local Library but all the Autobiography Books ( I like these type of books) they stock I have read them all--they dont seem to get any up-dated ones though- I could ask them to get special books for me but they have a charge for getting them- Just on principle I wont do that! It is also quite difficult for me to get to the Library at the moment.

My friend has borrowed me a few Jodie Picoult books, I'm reading the first one ATM its called 19 minutes later. Its about a boy who's bullied all his life and flips, shooting dead ten of his schoolmates and injuring countless others. He lives in a small town in America and the story flips from, events leading to the boys storming of the school, to how various people deal with the aftermath. I also have the book My sisters keeper written by the same author, I went to see this at the cinema last week, my friend cried from start to finish, I felt like I'd been rung through a mangle by the time I came out. I don't really rate Gwyneth Paltrow but her performance in this film was spot on.

I've read both them Em. Very thought provoking are'nt they. In fact I've read most of her books, the ending often is'nt great I've found but they're good reads.

Ooo they would give me nightmares - I prefer a nice romantic slushy book Do you have a travelling library near you Biggy - there is one that travels around here but I expect the books are a bit limited My Aunty had lots of autobiographies - I gave them all to charity; if I had know I could have dropped them off at your daughters in Lymm What a waste <cry>

Since I've been off work I've read quite a few books. Currently reading Val Mc Dermid, she wrote all the wire in the blood series for tv with Robson Green in it. Just finished several lawer, courtroom type books. I've tried several different types of books this summer but have'nt been able to get into quite a lot of them. I joined our local library several years ago but they have a poor selection of books. Most of mine come from 2nd had shops, Help the aged have a good selection and they cost around £2. Jenny has very similar taste to me so she and I swap all the time. Tesco and Asda do good bargains with their books but I've not looked for a while.

I'm always tempted by books at the supermarket, they are good value, if I need to buy one for a present they're good, if its for myself I bide my time, I rarely run of of things to read I'm persevering with one called Missing ATM, I've read a few pages and i'm having trouble psyching my self up, to pick it up again, after steaming my way through the 2 Jodie picoult books. I have trouble abandoning books, ITS A 'MENTAL' thing I just cant give up on a book, I had a book on my bedside table for months once as I couldn't be bothered to pick it up, but wouldn't let myself start a new one! I also try not to read the backs on books either, i want a surprise, I judge books by their cover, quite a lot!

| It takes a couple of chapeter to get going, but tthe whole story runs over one nights events so once it does get going its good. I haven't read any of his other books yet so I can't compare.

Just finished another Penny Vincenzi - off to buy another on Sunday
Cant put them down once started - very easy to read which is what I like - no violence or hard plot to follow

| I think its only about the price of postage Biggs much cheaper than charity books I think!! I managed to buy one for £1 this morning but next door a Meave Binchey I fancied was £3.25!! now that I wont pay even if it is for charity when I give them my books i dont expect them to rob peole like that.

I am reading Frank McCourt's book "'Teacher Man' he wrote two others 'Tis' (which I thought was good) about his early life in Children's Homes in Ireland-and 'Tis Was' about his adolescent years etc. This book 'Teacher's Man' isn't nearly as good as his others. He died last week at the age of 67 so we wont be reading any more Books by him now! Yes I agree Maggs--Charity Shops shouldn't charge the amount they do for books that are donated-I will only pay about £1 the most in those shops! We do get some good books that the Library sell but by the time I get there the best ones are sold-
